Sandringham, a local treat.

One of our more local outings on our return from our foreign travels, was to the Camping and Caravanning Club’s splendid site at Sandringham.
Situated about an easy mile walk from the Queens Norfolk retreat it made for a pleasant few days of walking and cycling.

On our stay in late October we were blessed with warm dry and sunny days which showed the autumnal colours of the Royal Estate in their full glory.

On one of our many walks through the Royal Estate we came across an interesting wooden Sculpture trail.

At the end of a local walk an oasis in the woods is the cluster of gift/outdoor shops and the welcome caf’e and restaurant.

We spent a pleasant couple of hours inside the Queens home, where you can view quite a few of the downstairs rooms. There is a lovely air of this being the home of someone rather than the usual staid stately house atmosphere.

The few days we stayed in this corner of Norfolk were a real treat, only an hour’s drive from home, it is certainly a place we will return to for a local break.
